The Society for Consumer Psychology Recognizes the Excellence of L.J. Shrum’s Work

Professor L.J. Shrum, a distinguished figure in Marketing, has been honored with the Fellow Award 2024 by the Society of Consumer Psychology (SCP), alongside Margaret Campbell from the University of California, Riverside. The Fellow Award is the highest honor SCP awards.

L.J. Shrum's extensive background includes a Ph.D. in Communications and an M.S. in Advertising from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Houston. He has held various academic positions at institutions like the University of Texas at San Antonio and Rutgers University and taught at prestigious schools such as the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. 

His research primarily revolves around applying social cognition concepts to understand consumer judgments, focusing on areas like self-threat, conspicuous consumption, and cross-cultural differences in self-construal. 

The SCP Fellow Award, bestowed upon seasoned scholars with a Ph.D. acquired more than 15 years ago, recognizes outstanding contributions to consumer psychology through research and service. It emphasizes not only research impact but also leadership in the field. 

The Society for Consumer Psychology, dedicated to advancing the study of consumer behavior, fosters collaboration among researchers and practitioners globally to shape the future of consumer psychology and its societal impact.
